Titans crowned MODC champions

Durban – An Aiden Markram hundred led the Multiply Titans to a match-winning 365 for five as they beat the Hollywoodbets Dolphins by 135 runs in the Momentum One Day Cup final on Sunday at SuperSport Park Centurion.

The Dolphins put the Titans in to bat first and the home side started well with the openers Theunis de Bruyn and Tony de Zorzi putting on 50 for the first wicket.

Keshav Maharaj accounted for de Zorzi for 19 and then 56 runs later Prenelan Subrayen picked up the wicket of Jonathan Vandiar for 30.

De Bruyn and Markram combined to add 30 before the former was caught by Eathan Bosch off Senuran Muthusamy for 72. That left the Titans at 137 for three after 29 overs.

Markram and Elgar then put together a decisive stand of 142 for the fourth wicket, before Elgar became Bosch’s first victim, caught for 58.

Markram was eventually dismissed for 127 by Andile Phehlukwayo after which the Titans batsmen pressed home their advantage to end on an imposing 356 for five.

In the Dolphins reply Vaughn van Jaarsveld and Senuran Muthusamy both fell early, leaving the Durbanites at 37 for two.

Sarel Erwee and Dane Vilas revived the innings with a stand of 35 for the third wicket before Erwee was dismissed for 34.

Skipper Khaya Zondo then fell, given out LBW for one off the bowling of Tabraiz Shamsi.

Vilas and Phlehlukwayo then looked to give the Dolphins a chance when they added 92 for the fifth wicket.

The all-rounder Phehlukwayo became the Dolphins second LBW victim when he was given out for 43.

Sibz Makhanya was then run out for 13 with the score on 188/7 in the 33rd over.

Maharaj scores a valiant 20 while Bosch got six and Prenelan Subrayen was the last man out for 11 in the 40th over.

That secured the Momentum One Day Cup title for the Titans, winning by 135 runs.
