Durban – Following an unforgettable 4-Day Domestic Series win over the Cape Cobras last week, the Hollywoodbets Dolphins will now take on the current log leaders the Imperial Lions at the Pietermaritzburg Oval starting on Monday.
Imraan Khan’s side bowled the Cobras out for 86 in their second innings with Senuran Muthusamy taking seven second innings wickets to hand the Dolphins an unlikely 137 run victory, and his squad will be hoping to keep that momentum against an in-form Lions outfit.
Grant Roelofsen has become the first player to three centuries in the competition and registered his second in as many matches in the win against the Cobras. Captain of the Dolphins Marques Ackerman is hoping that the side can build on that performance.
“The confidence of the side is high after last week and we have trained well since our win,” Ackerman said. “The batters are confident and the bowlers and in a good space so there is a good vibe in the camp going into this week.”
Roelofsen and Muthusamy led the side to their first win of the season in Oudtshoorn and Ackerman hopes their performances can inspire the rest of the squad.
“I hope that the other guys can take confidence from Grant and Sen going into this week against the Lions and stand up and put in those match-winning performances.
“We are excited to do well and compete against the Lions in Maritzburg this week,” Ackerman added.
Having been outclassed in the return fixture against the Lions at the Imperial Wanderers, the Dolphins will be looking to turn their fortunes around on home soil.
The Dolphins go into the match with an unchanged side from the squad that travelled to Oudtshoorn.
