Minnie Dlamini comes full circle with Sunfoil Dolphins

South African television superstar Minnie Dlamini has reaffirmed her support of the Sunfoil Dolphins team ahead of the upcoming domestic cricket season while also giving the Durban franchise’s freshly unveiled, exciting new identity an unqualified thumbs up.

The launch of the new Dolphins identity – compered by Dlamini – brought the bubbly 25 year-old TV personality back to her hometown and Sahara Stadium Kingsmead, the birthplaces of her love for cricket and the Dolphins.

“I’m a huge cricket fan!” explained Dlamini. “I started playing cricket when I was in Grade 1 at Glenashley Senior Primary and I was actually a really good batsman back then!”

“I love the game and – being from KZN – love the Dolphins!”

While her time on the field didn’t last long, the enjoyment of the game was something that stayed with Dlamini and soon her love for the Dolphins brought her closer to the franchise.

“My first involvement with the Dolphins came when I joined the cheerleading team in 2006/7.

“We’d rehearse every weekend and then on match days we’d come out and support the boys!

“We had pantsula dancers in our cheerleading regime and we worked really hard but it was really awesome and we had loads of fun!”

Endless hours on the side of the field and a ever-growing Dolphins passion burning inside, Dlamini then looked to become the female face of the franchise she had fallen in love with.

“At the end of 2007 I entered the Miss Dolphins pageant where I got through to the top five and even though I didn’t go on to win, it was a really awesome experience and I’ve been following the brand ever since!”

Having been a part of the franchise in her youth and following its progress ever since, Dlamini was overwhelmed by the Dolphins dynamic new identity and impressed by the energy and positivity that resonates throughout the franchise currently.

“The new brand looks absolutely fantastic!” said Dlamini. “I’m always looking at different brands and having been exposed to huge, global brands, I look at this the new Dolphins logo and I really think it is world class!”

“The new logo is beautiful, its chique and it’s now; I love the fact that it’s so modern!

“Not only is it now and current though, it’s something that will last for a very long time; I think this one is a keeper!”

Dlamini’s long association with the Dolphins is set to continue for many years to come with the local celebrity looking forward to the opportunity to add her voice to the thousands of others cheering their team on this season.

“I’m behind the Dolphins 100 percent!

“I cannot wait for the new season to start and I will definitely be making my way down to Durban to support the boys!” confirmed Dlamini.
