Dolphins under pressure at Mangaung Oval

Durban – The Hollywoodbets Dolphins find themselves under pressure after two days of their 4 Day Domestic Series match at the Mangaung Oval, having been bundled out for 162 chasing the imposing 424 first innings total posted by the VKB Knights.

At stumps the hosts had added 21 in their second innings to stretch their lead to 283.

Earlier, the Dolphins were unable to rattle the Knights cage for the first period of the day as the home side continued well with the bat once play had resumed.

The first wicket of the day for the Dolphins was that of overnight centurion Raynard van Tonder for a well-played 166.

Tail-ender Migael Pretorius scored a fifty and was dismissed for 62 but the Knights had moved along to 424 when they were finally bowled out.

The Dolphins started their innings quickly but wickets fell at regular intervals as they lost S.J. Erwee for 37, Grant Roelofsen for two, Keegan Petersen for three and Khaya Zondo for a single.

Skipper Marques Ackerman added 30 before he became Alfred Mothoa’s third victim, trapped in front by the seamer coming around the wicket with the total on 86.

Senuran Muthusamy, Andile Phehlukwayo and Keshav Maharaj all fell soon afterwards, leaving the visitors teetering at 139/8.

Ruan de Swart added a bright 46 but couldn’t find support in the Dolphins tail, and the innings ended on 162, trailing the hosts by 262.
