Dolphins fight back on day three at Centurion

Centurion – Four wickets from Okuhle Cele and a half century from SJ Erwee has seen the Hollywoodbets Dolphins fight back on day three of their CSA 4-Day Domestic Series clash with the Momentum Multiply Titans at SuperSport Park on Monday.

The Dolphins required early wickets on the third morning and they managed to pick up the wicket of Rivaldo Moonsamy for 130, the batter could only add four runs to his overnight score.

From 360/6 overnight the Titans were bowled out for 409, leading the Dolphins by 116 going into the second innings.

Okuhle Cele finished as the best Dolphins bowler with 4/103 from his 28 overs.

In reply the Dolphins lost Tshepang Dithole for 13 while 52 runs later Marques Ackerman fell for 31 and the Dolphins were 74 for two.

Unfortunately for the Dolphins, Khaya Zondo was dismissed for six and Bryce Parsons was LBW for nine and the Dolphins were 105/4, still trailing the Titans by eleven runs.

Dolphins captain and opener SJ Erwee was still at the crease and went to his second half century of the competition as the men from Durban went into the lead with five second innings wickets in hand.

Erwee and Slade van Staden tried to grow the Dolphins advantage but that ended when the former was trapped in front by Sibonelo Makhanya for 60.

After his debut half century in the first innings, Brad Porteous joined Van Staden at the crease and the pair needed to grow the Dolphins lead as much as possible.

The young duo took the Dolphins to the close of play with their total on 224/6 with Van Staden unbeaten on 42 and Porteous not out on 29.

Their partnership is worth a vital 53 runs and the Dolphins will go into the fourth and final day with an advantage of 108 runs.
