2019 DPL play-off spots confirmed

Durban – The 2019 Hollywoodbets Dolphins Premier League presented by Aucor semi-finals have been confirmed for Sunday following the conclusion of the group stage on Saturday afternoon.

Having won all seven of their matches the Gap Debt Solutions Pietermaritzburg Spurs sit atop the table and will take on the AFFA Holdings Tugela Sharks in their semi-final.

The Spurs have been rampant in this campaign with some stellar performances from Rob Frylinck and captain Calvin Savage to name a few.

The Tugela Sharks have had Hollywoodbets Dolphins batsman Cody Chetty to thank for their charge to the play-offs. Chetty has been the star with bat in hand throughout and has been influential for them.

In the other semi-final the Aucor Chiefs will take on the Mobicel East Coast Wizards.

The Chiefs have had a consistent campaign with five wins from their seven games while the Wizards have gained momentum as the competition has aged.

Kushen Kishin has been in good form for the Chiefs and has been a consistent performer with the bat for the men in blue.

For the Wizards Sibz Makhanya has shown his all-round ability scoring crucial runs and taking a number of significant wickets as they surged into the play-off’s following a disappointing first weekend in the competition.

Hollywoodbets KZN Inland star Luke Schlemmer has also been a significant cog in the Wizards machine.

Through the group stages Frylinck has stood out with the bat as he has racked up 272 runs in his seven innings with Schlemmer five runs behind him while Fat Henry Drakensberg Thunder all-rounder Eathan Bosch is third on the run-scorers list.

It’s also tight at the top of the wicket takers list with Makhanya leading with fourteen poles, second is Thunder speedster Kerwin Mungroo and Javier Frost and last year’s stand-out bowler Abdul Hack Razack have taken twelve each.

The first semi-final will see the Durban Chiefs take on the East Coast Wizards at 08:30 while the second semi-final will see the Pietermaritzburg Spurs take on the Tugela Sharks at 11:30.

The final will start at 14:30 on Sunday.

All matches will take place at Kingsmead Cricket Stadium.
