Sunfoil bids farewell to the Dolphins

After five years as the title sponsors of the Sunfoil Dolphins, the Willowton Group has ended their title sponsorship with the Durban-based franchise as they focus their interests on their involvement in national and international cricket.

Rajesh Behari, the Acting CEO of the Dolphins, said that the partnership with Sunfoil had been a mutually rewarding one and the Willowton Group had left a distinct legacy on cricket in KwaZulu-Natal.

“We have agreed to part ways and will cherish the strides that we made together,” said Behari.

“The Willowton Group’s impact on cricket development in our province was profound; and we are committed to keeping up this important work and look forward to their continued support of development cricket in KZN.”

“It has been an exciting and rewarding journey to partner the Dolphins, a team whose interests have been very close to our hearts for the past five years,” said Shoaib Moosa, Willowton Group Chief Commercial Officer.

“The title sponsorship of the Dolphins was our introduction to cricket at a national level, and proved to be a rewarding way to promote and build the Sunfoil brand.

“This led to our sponsorship of Proteas Test cricket and the sponsorship of the four-day Sunfoil Domestic Series, which we will maintain as a platform to keep the Sunfoil brand associated with cricket, together with the Sunfoil Township cricket programmes and the Sunfoil Education Trust providing bursaries to children coming through the Sunfoil development cricket programmes that show promise for the future and require financial assistance,” he added.

“We are confident that the franchise will build on what we have achieved together, and we will always be loyal supporters of the Dolphins and look forward to following their progress closely in years to come,” said Moosa.

The Dolphins will be announcing their new title sponsor on Thursday afternoon.
