Computer giants Sahara have taken another step in entrenching themselves amongst the cricketing fraternity in KwaZulu-Natal after they renewed their naming rights deal with the iconic Kingsmead Cricket Stadium, the home of the Sunfoil Dolphins, until the end of August 2019.
The deal has been extended from the previous deal that was struck up eleven years ago and with the ongoing support of the brand, the stadium has continued to offer spectators a world class experience at the prestigious ground.
The news is encouraging for the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union and president Fa-eez Jaffar has acknowledged this and is grateful for the involvement of such a large brand in the support of cricket in the province.
“Firstly we would like to thank Sahara for their renewal of their sponsorship,” Jaffar said. “It is reassuring to know that Sahara, being a progressive company, will be with us for the next five years and we trust that this partnership will continue to grow to even greater heights.
“Their support is much appreciated and we are encouraged by their involvement in cricket in our province and hope it may continue,” he added.
Chief Executive Officer of the Sunfoil Dolphins Jesse Chellan echoed the sentiments of Jaffer and is excited by the extension of the partnership as and feels that it is vital in keeping Kingsmead as a world class venue.
“The continuation of this relationship with Sahara for another 5 years indicates the strength of the relationship and their ongoing support is essential for us to maintain and improve our stadium,” Chellan said.
Sahara’s Executive Director Stephan Nel is another delighted by the striking of the deal between the iconic stadium and the company.
“We have been involved with the stadium for a number of years now and we are very excited to have extended our partnership for another five years,” Nel said. “Sahara Stadium Kingsmead is one of the most recognizable grounds in South Africa and being able to be associated with it is something that we as a company are very proud of.”
The next action set to unfold on Sahara Stadium Kingsmead’s turf is the RAM SLAM T20 Challenge bout between the Sunfoil Dolphins and the Nashua Cape Cobras on Friday 21 November.
