Fresh energy sweeps through Sunfoil Dolphins & KZN Cricket

The Sunfoil Dolphins head into the 2015/16 South African domestic cricket season with a fresh energy and positivity after an extravagant reveal at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead on Thursday, 6 August saw the Durban franchise welcome in a new, contemporary brand identity for the first time in over fifteen years.

The changing of sponsors aside, the franchise’s logo has remained unchanged for a decade and a half and CEO Pete de Wet is excited by what the new identity represents for both the team and the fans.LaunchImage

“We have a new face of the Sunfoil Dolphins; one that is modern, exciting and dynamic because that’s how we view the future of our team!” explained a passionate De Wet.

“There are great plans and thrilling times ahead for cricket in KwaZulu-Natal and we decided to breathe new life into the Dolphins brand with a revitalised identity that reflects the positivity and energy that is currently at the heart of cricket in our province,” he added.

The strong black and green colour palette remains however the bold, visible new brand expresses pride and confidence.

“Cricket is a competitive sport where aggression, passion, team unity, gritty determination and confidence are often as important in achieving success as skill or individual brilliance,” said De Wet.

“We felt that a reboot of the somewhat ‘friendly’ Dolphins identity was the best way to re-energise the brand and unite our players and loyal fans around ‘their’ team.”

“We know that the Dolphins are a team with a hard competitive edge, a will to win and the killer instinct to make results happen.

“We are untamed, we don’t surrender and we always rise together and we believe that our new identity now reflects that!”

The Sunfoil Dolphins brand refresh also goes hand in glove with the renewed energy that recently engulfed Sahara Stadium Kingsmead.

A spectacular new stadium entrance, state of the art perimeter fencing, a freshly re‐laid parking lot, hotel-standard toilets in the West Stand and a refurbished members’ dining room, together with new-look stadium signage, complete phase one of the stadium’s makeover.

Fans can look forward to their first taste of the refreshed stadium at the KFC T20 International between the Oxigen Proteas and New Zealand on Friday 14 August and the Momentum ODI on Wednesday 26 August while the new Sunfoil Dolphins brand will be in action for the first time when the Durban franchise takes on the Chevrolet Knights on Sunday, 11 October in Pietermaritzburg.
