The Sunfoil Dolphins will make full use of their home-ground advantage for the Momentum One-Day Cup play-off against The Unlimited Titans at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead today, Tuesday 10 February, by picking their team from a wider squad of players.
While the Titans have stayed in Durban after Sunday’s defeat and have retained the same squad, the Dolphins have the luxury of an extended squad and the ability to adapt their team to conditions as best they can.
The game will be played on the same strip that was used for Sunday’s relatively low-scoring affair, and so picking the right combination could prove crucial.
“It could be slow and it could take some turn. We’ve got a couple of spinners standing by and we’re lucky that we’re playing at home because they can just be at the end of the phone,” Dolphins coach Lance Klusener said.
“We need to have a look in the morning, and then hopefully we can guess correctly.”
The hosts do have a couple of injury concerns, but will be able to give fast bowlers Daryn Dupavillon and Craig Alexander until the last minute to prove their fitness.
Titans coach Rob Walter is not expecting to make any major changes having settled on a strong top eight in which he has developed considerable confidence.
The focus is therefore on the bowling unit to up their game after allowing the Warriors to chase 354 on Friday and then conceding a few too many against the Dolphins on Sunday.
“I think it has only been one area of our game that has let us down, so it’s just about improving that one area and maintaining the rest,” said Walter.
Gates open at 14h00 with play set to get underway at 15h00.
