The Durban public will be spoilt for choice towards the end of this iconic year for South Africa, when two international cricket events hit the Durban calendar for the first time. Sahara Stadium, Kingsmead has been selected to be a host venue for the Airtel Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20), which will take place from 10-26 September 2010. Due to the unwavering support that the cricket loving fans showed during the recent Indian Premier League (DLF IPL) in Durban, it seemed a fitting choice that Durban was chosen once again to host an International event of this caliber. Three months later, the Moses Mabhida Stadium, which has staged the 2010 FIFA World Cup matches, will play host to a once-off International Pro20. The Proteas will play India, in this 70 000-seater stadium, for the chance to take home the Krish Mackerdhuj Trophy. The match will take place on 09 January 2011. “We are over-the-moon that these world class competitions will be staged in front of our cricket loving Durban public this year! The Kwazulu Natal Cricket Union will be ready, and excited to show that our public are Number One fans when it comes to cricket, and what better way to show this, than to full up the Moses Mabhida stadium! commented Jesse Chellan, CEO of KZNCU. Further details of these two events have not yet been finalized, but the Union will ensure to keep the Durban public informed as soon as they are released from Cricket South Africa. For now though, we hope that the fans put these dates in their diaries… as they are not to be missed!
