The Kwazulu Natal Cricket Union would like to congratulate Hashim Amla on his brilliant performances on the recently completed tour of India.

Amla, who jets down into Durban today was named man of the series after scoring 490 runs in four innings, including three centuries (253 not out, 114 and 123 not out). His 490 runs in a two test series is a new South African record, beating Jacques Kallis’ 421 runs against Pakistan in 2007. He also became the fourth batsman to score consecutive hundreds at Eden Gardens.

“After yet another world class performance, Hashim has solidified his place within SA and world cricketing greats.  Sometimes it is easy to brush over this humble man’s achievements, but we at the Dolphins, would like to place on record, our absolute thrill and joy at Hash’s success. He has become the rock around which the Proteas batting revolves, having made the number 3 slot his own. This has allowed Jacques Kallis to express himself with more freedom. He is a true role model to all aspiring cricketers and he stands for all that is great about our game”, said Jesse Chellan, CEO of KZNCU.

Also rewarded for an outstanding Standard Bank Pro20 season is rising star David Miller. Miller was named in the provisional 30 man squad for the ICC World Twenty20 to be played in the West Indies later this year. The 20 year old has scored 159 runs from five P20 games this season with a highest score of 90 not out from 52 balls against the Lions. He has an average of 53.00.

“I am very excited and honoured to be part of the squad. It has always been a dream to play for South Africa. Though I am not guaranteed to be part of the final 15, it is great to be recognised for my performances,” said an elated Miller.
