CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA (CSA) on Sunday added Charl Langeveldt to the Proteas’ Standard Bank ODI squad for the three-match series against India later this month.

“We have decided to add Langeveldt as an additional player to the squad announced earlier,” commented national selection convener Gerald Majola.

“We do not believe that we have all our bases covered at the moment in the bowling department,” he explained. “We have two major ICC tournaments coming up – first the ICC World Twenty20 in the West Indies and then next year’s ICC World Cup on the sub-continent – and it is important that we explore all our options.

“Charl also brings much needed experience to our attack. He has played 64 matches while Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel and Wayne Parnell have played only 67 matches between them.

“Johan Botha is the only other specialist bowler in the squad with 50 ODI appearances.”

Revised Standard Bank ODI squad: Graeme Smith (Nashua Cape Cobras, capt), Loots Bosman (Nashua Dolphins), Johan Botha (Chevrolet Warriors), Mark Boucher (Chevrolet Warriors), AB de Villiers (Nashua Titans), JP Duminy (Nashua Cape Cobras), Herschelle Gibbs (Nashua Cape Cobras), Jacques Kallis (Chevrolet Warriors), Charl Langeveldt (Nashua Cape Cobras), Albie Morkel (Nashua Titans), Morne Morkel (Nashua Titans), Wayne Parnell (Chevrolet Warriors), Alviro Petersen (bizhub Highveld Lions), Dale Steyn (Nashua Titans), Lonwabo Tsotsobe (Chevrolet Warriors), Roelof van der Merwe (Nashua Titans).
