Thomas and Ackerman take centre stage in MTN40 PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 29 October 2009

Senior players Alfonso Thomas and Hylton Ackerman will make their seasonal debuts for the Nashua Dolphins this Friday, 30 October 2009 at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead when they rattle the cages of the Chevrolet Warriors.

This will be both teams first feel of the new 40 over format and the players are looking forward to the increased pace of the game and more action.

Thomas returns after a very successful season with County Championship side Somerset, where he played for the team in the recently completed Champions Trophy in India.

Nashua Dolphins squad:

1) Imraan Khan (Captain)

2) Hylton Ackerman

3) Hashim Amla

4) Ahmed Amla

5) Cameron Delport

6) David Miller

7) Andrew Hall

8) Daryn Smit

9) Johann Louw

10) Alfonso Thomas

11) Quinton Friend

12) Yusuf Abdulla

13) Keshav Maharaj

Coach: Graham Ford

The biggest change, as the name suggests, is reducing matches to 40-overs a side instead of the traditional 45-overs. There will also be a five-minute strategic time-out after the 20th over in each inning.

The DAY/NIGHT match at Sahara Stadium, Kingsmead will start at 16h30 with gates opening at 15h30. The match will end at 22h30 with a 30 minute dinner break between innings.

Tickets prices range from R10 for scholars and R20 for adults on the grass to R80 for stand tickets. Tickets are on sale through the stadium ticket office on 031-3354200 or via Computicket (www.computicket.co.za)

The first x500 fans through the gate stand a chance to receive a free MTN promotional item, and Nashua Dolphin flags will be given away.
