Bravo back for Dolphins’ must-win Cobras clash

The 2014 RAM SLAM T20 Challenge is rapidly flying towards the business end of the competition and the Sunfoil Dolphins will eagerly welcome the return of Dwayne Bravo for the clash with the Nashu Mobile Cape Cobras on Friday in Durban will give the side a much-needed burst of experience ahead of the clash.

Together with the return of Bravo, the Dolphins are also excited by the reappearance of young Andile Phelukwayo who has been writing his matric exams and so has not been available for selection.

The hard-hitting left hander replaces Sibonelo Makhanya in the 12-man squad and will be eager to impress following a solid start to his first class career at the 2014 Oppo Champions League in India in September.

The Dolphins currently find themselves in fourth place on the log, three points behind the third-placed Cobras, and coach Lance Klusener admits that the pressure is on the men from Durban.
“It is a big game,” said Klusener. “I think second spot is also attainable and if we win all of our games, we’ll be right in there.”
“For us every game is a big game from here on in but it’s great that we’re in this position and that our future is in our own hands.”

Sunday night’s effort against the Chevrolet Knights in Durban was definitely the Dolphins’ get out of jail free card as the rain came to their rescue following a well below par effort with the bat. Those two points may well prove vital as the Dolphin’s head into Friday’s clash.

A win at home in Friday’s clash could however see the Dolphins leapfrog the Cobras, however the Cape franchise do still have a game in hand.

The Dolphins are still in the running for the three play-off spots up for grabs but they are going to have to be on the end of a few favourable results in the run-in to their final two games of the season. With just four league games left in the season the Dolphins will hope that they can show the form that won them the title last season.

The match on Friday 21 November starts at 18h00 with Sahara Stadium Kingsmead’s gates set to open at 17h00. Tickets can be purchased from www.ticketpros.co.za or at the gate on arrival.
