Returning Dolphins bolster squad for Knights showdown

With a disappointing loss against the table topping bizhub Highveld Lions behind them, the Sunfoil Dolphins will once take on a Chevrolet Knights team that is champing at their heels on the Sunfoil Series log but the home side will hope that they can regain the form that saw them dominate the central franchise earlier in the season when they clash at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead from Thursday to Sunday.

ZondoSSeriesThe Dolphins squad has been given an added boost with the return of one-day run machine Vaughn van Jaarsveld, who has overcome his bout of pink eye, and the ever impressive Khaya Zondo for the clash to bolster a batting line-up that looked a little thin during the second innings of their game against the Lions in Johannesburg.

Another notable returnee to the squad is the all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo who makes a welcome return to the four-day side and offers balance down the order as well as with the ball.

The returning senior figures means youngsters Senuran Muthusamy, Greg Oldfield, Dan Sincuba and Tsepo Moreki fall out of the squad for the Knights clash.

Injuries to all-rounders Ryan McLaren and Robbie Frylinck and Craig Alexander’s lack of match fitness does however afford KZN Inland seam duo Matthew Pillans and Graham Hume another franchise opportunity.

The Dolphins head into their clash with the Knights just a meagre 0.4 points ahead of the visotrs and will hope that they can extend this as they push to catch The Unlimited Titans and the Lions that sit in second and first place on the log respectively.
